Free ads for crowdfunding campaigns

ImageIf you're running a crowdfunding campaign for your exhibition or show, we at FringeGuru would like to help.  Right now, we have hundreds of visitors reading our pre-Fringe previews - and we also have a load of unfilled advertising slots, standing by for the Festival rush.

We've put those two facts together, and come up with a way we think we can help.  If you're eligible, we're delighted to offer you free use of our unsold advertising space, specifically to highlight your crowdfunding campaign.

Eligibility

You must be funding an event of the kind which FringeGuru might cover.  Generally speaking, any form of live performance is OK, as are exhibitions or installations of visual art.  We'll judge films or books on a case-by-case basis.  But sorry, no games - that's simply not our focus on this site.

You must be appearing at a location we cover, or be funding ongoing development following an appearance at a location we cover.  We currently cover Edinburgh, Brighton, Buxton, Oxford and London.

These eligibility rules are intended to ensure we only carry ads for projects of interest to our readers.  We may make an exception to the letter of the rules if we feel it's in keeping with their spirit.  Feel free to mail us and ask.

The Rules

Your ad must be for your crowdfunding campaign, not for the show itself.  It must include text which clearly states that you're soliciting funding.  For example, "Help us take Hamlet to the Edinburgh Fringe" is OK; "Hamlet at the Edinburgh Fringe" is not.

Your ad must link directly to your page on a recognised crowdfunding site.  Or if you're running a crowdfunding campaign on your own website, it must link to a page which specifically discusses your crowdfunding campaign.

You must include the words "Ad space donated by FringeGuru" somewhere in your ad.  (This is just because we don't want anyone to think we're making money out of your crowdfunding campaign.  The wording can be small and inconspicuous, as long as it's legible.)

The Small Print

We are offering free use of unsold advertising space.  In the event that we need the space for paid ads, we'll stop running the free ones.  It's unlikely that this will happen before the Fringe begins, but if it does, that's simply bad luck.

Out of fairness to our paid advertisers, we have a limited number of advertising slots available.  If we have more applications than we have space, we'll draw names from a hat each morning to see whose ads get to run that day.  We promise to be fair, but we don't promise that your ad will run every day, or even at all.

Advertising is completely separate from editorial policy.  If we accept your free ad, that doesn't imply we'll come to review your show.  If you'd like to invite us to review, the best way is to send a press release to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
