The Acoustic Music Centre @ St Brides is Fringe venue number 123 Its address is 10 Orwell Terrace, Edinburgh EH11 2DY, which is in the Haymarket and Dalry area of the city. See a map of this area. The venue's website is www.acousticmusiccentre.co.uk - but you cannot book tickets online through this website. The box office telephone number is FringeGuru's review of this venueBased in a converted church in densely-populated Dalry, the Acoustic Music Centre is a fair old schlep from the central Fringe zones. It's worth the trip, though, to sample the Centre's jam-packed musical line-up - heavy on Scottish folk, but with no shortage of detours into other styles. The impressive Big Room is the former sanctuary of the church, and fully justifies its super-sized moniker. Row upon row of cinema-style red seats stretch backwards towards the gable-end window, while the eagle-eyed can just catch sight of a beamed wooden roof among the gloom of the upper reaches. It's a tribute to the popularity of the venue that even this massive space often sells out. Tucked away at the rear of the venue, the comfortable Back Room hosts more intimate performances. Eating and drinking at this venueThe barn-like café-bar is run by local restaurant First Coast. There are no main meals, but they do lay on a good-value selection of salads and open sandwiches, followed up by some truly delicious sweets. Do try the home-made soft drinks - or, if you're looking for something harder, there's a small bottle bar. No drinks can be taken into the performance spaces.
