FringeGuru's review of this venue

Few venues on the Fringe yell "Student!" louder than the Bongo Club, tucked into a university building on Holyrood Road. Décor in the red-walled performance space includes camouflage netting, a revolutionary banner, leopard-skin (fake of course) and - wait for it - mirrorballs.

But make no mistake: this is a well-run, spacious and comparatively comfortable year-round venue, with a cult following among student and other residents of Edinburgh alike. During the Festival, the Bongo's eclectic programme attracts all ages and styles, from its infamously boisterous late-night cabaret to laid-back music at lunchtime.

Eating and drinking at this venue

There's a bar at the back of the performance space which opens for most events. Otherwise, you can use the café-bar upstairs - which, despite a slightly industrial feel, serves beer, good inexpensive hot drinks and some light snacks. The café-bar also offers free Internet access for customers, although it's often busy.
