FringeGuru's review of this venue

One of the brightest and cheeriest of Edinburgh's historic churches, the Canongate sports a powder-blue theme. The audience sits on powder-blue pews, beside the powder-blue pulpit and beneath the powder-blue ceiling; even the powder-blue hymn board joins in with the colour scheme.

The soaring space is best known for its magnificent acoustics, which wouldn't disgrace a cathedral, and is accordingly well-used for musical recitals ranging from baroque to a cappella. If it's completely full, some in the side pews will find their view obstructed by the fat columns supporting the arches of the roof - and try not to sit at the very back, where you're subject to the constant distraction of the ticking clock over the door.

Rather than forming a daily programme, most Canongate events run just once, so check the programme carefully if something takes your fancy.
