Pleasance Dome is Fringe venue number 23 , part of the Pleasance venue chain. Read more about this venue chain. Its address is Potterow, 1 Bristo Square, Edinburgh EH8 9AL, which is in the Bristo Square area of the city. See a map of this area. The venue's website is www.pleasance.co.uk, and you can book tickets online through this website. The box office telephone number is FringeGuru's review of this venueOn the outside a 1960's horror, the concrete-and-pebbledash interior of the Pleasance Dome has been converted to a calm and stylish palm court. The younger sister venue of bigger and brasher Pleasance Courtyard, the Dome's central court leads to six performance spaces - all named after a deck of cards. Important venue though it clearly is, much of the appeal of the Pleasance Dome lies beyond the shows. The tree-covered central atrium is decorated with amusing cartoons of past Fringe personalities, set against a backdrop of Edinburgh scenes. If you have time between shows, hang out here with a beer or coffee, and see how many of the local landmarks you can name. The early-evening palm-court tea dances don't always draw a crowd, but the Dome is still a mellow place at any time of day, especially in comparison to its more frenetic neighbours on Bristo Square. On a practical level, too, the Dome's indoor box office - which can sell tickets for a range of major venues - is one of the quietest around. The performance spacesThe Ten Dome and Jack Dome are small but serviceable theatres, each seating around 50. The Queen Dome and King Dome are much bigger - and feature welcome, comfortable padded seating, arranged in a banked U-shape around the stage. The Joker Dome, as its name suggests, is dedicated to stand-up comedy: it's a teeny-weeny space where the front rows of the audience perch on stools. But the real joker in the pack is the cabaret-style Ace Dome - get in the queue early for this one, to take your pick of the stools at tables near the stage, the folding chairs or the booths around the back. Eating and drinking at this venueOut in the palm court, there's a juice bar and a coffee stand, each serving satisfying snacks including flapjacks or pastries. Or look to the right as you come into the Dome to find the main bar - it's in a separate room, but you can take your drinks out to the palm court if you prefer. A sit-down is almost guaranteed, even if you have to occupy one of the numerous concrete steps out in the central court.
