The box office telephone number is FringeGuru's review of this venueThe lovely church of St Cuthbert, accessible either from Lothian Road or directly from Princes Street Gardens, is perpetually upstaged by its bigger neighbour St John's. But even if you're just passing by, it's worth calling into St Cuthbert's to admire its awe-inspiring turn-of-the-century sanctuary. The altar has pride of place in the domed, decorated apse: behind, a frieze depicts the Last Supper, all framed by columns of marble. During the Festival, St Cuthbert's sanctuary is used for lunchtime organ recitals; it's a magnificent setting, but seating is on the pews, so the 45 minutes of a typical performance are really quite enough. Further events take place upstairs, in a simple but striking hall dominated by a painting of Christ. This is a comfortable, relaxed and elegant space, the ideal home for small-scale recitals. Eating and drinking at this venueHot and cold drinks and a few simple snacks are available in the foyer outside the sanctuary. If it's a fine day, the open-air café in Princes Street Gardens makes a tempting alternative. Where to get tickets for this venueHere's where you can buy tickets for this venue.
