The Vault is Fringe venue number 29 , part of the Paradise Green venue chain. Its address is 11 Merchant Street, Edinburgh EH1 2QD, which is in the George IV Bridge and Chambers Street area of the city. See a map of this area. The venue's website is www.paradise-green.co.uk - but you cannot book tickets online through this website. The box office telephone number is FringeGuru's review of this venueThe deeply unpromising approach to The Vault - under the arch, just by the bins, opposite the building site and past the prison vans serving the Sherriff Court - continues into the foyer, with its plain whitewashed walls and concrete floor. Once you're through the entranceway, though, your impression of the venue will transform. Within the vault hides a tiny, intimate performance space, whose recent conversion leaves it brim-full of atmosphere and, yes, elegance. Making imaginative use of the space available, the stage is tucked away under an arch; it's a nice detail, but a few of the seats do have a slightly constrained view, so it's best not to be the very last in the queue for this one. Mercifully, the soundproofing fends off the noise from outside. And, as a year-round performance space, The Vault benefits from proper cinema-style seating - albeit with legroom which would make a budget airline squirm. Eating and drinking at this venueThe venue's programme says there's a café on-site, but we didn't see one when we visited last year. We'll update this review once we've had a chance to check.
