The Zoo is Fringe venue number 124 , part of the Zoo venue chain. Its address is 140 The Pleasance, Edinburgh EH8 9RR, which is in the Nicolson Street and Pleasance area of the city. See a map of this area. The venue's website is www.zoofestival.co.uk - but you cannot book tickets online through this website. The box office telephone number is FringeGuru's review of this venueThe friendly, informal Zoo venue deserves more attention: perhaps it suffers from being a little too close to the multiple delights of the Pleasance. By day the Charteris Memorial Church, the solid stone building contains two good performance spaces, hosting mainly small-scale theatre with the odd comic turn. Just past the cramped box office is the Aviary, a small and fairly formal theatre which works up a good atmosphere for the right kind of show. For the best seats, head to the back of the room, where a few raised rows offer good sightlines even if a six-footer plants himself in front of you. The larger space is the Monkey House, which you queue for at a separate entrance around the corner. With the audience drawn close around three sides of the stage, this venue works well for sketch shows or informal theatre. The seats are comfortable enough and, as they only go three rows back, you should have a decent view - as long as you don't sit right behind one of the pillars in the corners.
