Max and Ivan: Holmes and Watson |

![]() Here at FringeGuru, we’ve a real soft spot for Max and Iván: they’re instantly loveable, endlessly inventive and pretty darned funny, too. They’re best-known as compères and sketch-show hosts, so this side-step into narrative parody is an intriguing change. And we’re already giggling at their choice of theme. We’ll bet a solid-gold guinea that it’s Max who’s cast as Holmes… which leaves always-cuddly Iván as the eternally baffled Watson. The roles fit their styles like a comfy old deerstalker, yet their take on Conan Doyle is bound to be a fresh one. Expect preposterous plot twists, groan-inducing gags and a few unexpected moves, as London’s greatest detective crosses the seas to a crime-ridden Chicago. Of course, an inspired concept doesn’t always make for a great show; but we’ve been sleuthing on the Internet, and witnesses agree that their early previews shaped up well. All the clues seem to point to another success – so if you’re on the trail of a laugh-along hour, the choice is elementary. |
