Free Until Famous With Lewis Schaffer |

Lewis Schaffer is not famous, but he may be familiar. We didn’t catch his full show last year... but the reason you may remember him is because he was the 2009 recipient of the Malcolm Hardee Cunning Stunt Award for best Edinburgh Fringe publicity stunt. ![]() Still doesn’t ring any bells? Well, he was the guy who claimed to have sponsored the Edinburgh Comedy Awards for £99, with his mum as a judge. Whether that’s more convincing than previous sponsor if.com, or new incumbent Fosters, is up to you. In any case, the Comedy Awards weren't pleased: Schaffer was threatened with legal action and was sacked by his own agent. Has he learned his lesson? Judging by his latest press release - offering to sponsor the Free Festival for £7.30 - we're guessing not. Probably one of the biggest names on you can see without paying, Lewis Schaffer is free until famous. Maybe next year. |
