if.comedy nominees announced

The Fringe is very nearly over for another year and, fall-out from the ticketing fiasco aside, there remains one significant event yet to take place.  On Saturday night, the if.comedy awards will be handed out, for best newcomer and best act overall.  Here, FringeGuru runs the rule over the contenders.

The transformation's Udderway

They're putting up a tent on Bristo Square.  We know what comes next, because we've seen it there before.  It's already got its spindly legs; its head can't be far behind.  And soon, they'll attach a bright purple udder.

It's a COW.  It's lying flat on its back.  And it means just one thing...  The Fringe is coming to town!

Latest Ticket Alert

 

It feels like the dust's barely settled on the 2008 Festival, but the first tickets for next year are about to go on sale.  Seats for the 2009 Edinburgh Military Tattoo - the umatched soldierly spectacle which wows crowds of 8,500 nightly in front of Edinburgh Castle - will be on sale online from Monday 1 December.  And with recent Tattoo seasons booking out by mid-January, there's no time to waste securing your place.
