Simon Munnery's AGM09

It must be confidence bordering on hubris that causes a comedian to bring a show to the Fringe six years running, without changing the format. Simon Munnery has done just that with his Annual General Meeting at The Stand. Unfortunately, I feel the shine of novelty is wearing away from his act, and what is left is a little dull.

90 minutes for Gandhi are not enough! I can say that for sure after seeing this adaptation of Sammy! - one of the finest historical Indian plays, which in 2006 received a clutch of awards for best script, best director and best actor. This Fringe version is presented at Riddles Court by an experienced local amateur theatre group.

Reginald D Hunter: The Only Apple In The Garden Of Eden And N*ggas

These are the ones who look the most baffled, the ones who shift uncomfortably in their seats as Hunter launches into the material he is famous for on the circuit: dark, philosophical musings on existence, and strange stories from his chequered past.

This is the fifth consecutive year Out of the Blue have been on the Fringe, and during that time they've built up quite a considerable fanbase. Every song they performed was greeted by rapturous applause afterwards, even the slow and tender ones. Such was the atmosphere that, during their rendition of Tom Jones' Sex Bomb, I was half-expecting undergarments to be flying onto the stage. Yup, these guys could probably sell out even if they just sang scales and arpeggios.

I have to admit I'm quite a fan of the board game Cluedo, and I have sometimes thought how the events behind it might occur in real life. But it doesn't take long to realise it's very hard to stay truly faithful to the game - I can't see even the most amateur sleuth failing to differentiate between injuries caused by a knife and a lead pipe. It seems the obvious option is a Sherlock Holmes style murder mystery plot surrounding the six Cluedo characters. And that’s what this production offers, with a further twist... it's a musical.
