The Axis of Awesome |

![]() Friendless types who had nothing better to do on a Friday night in March, or bleary-eyed types returning from doing better things, may have spotted YouTube and Fringe favourites Axis of Awesome ‘doing’ Comic Relief at half-one in the morning. Does this mean they’ve hit the big time? Is the next step for them Wembley stadium, for a concert to cure Africa’s ills once and for all? Maybe, maybe not. But what we do know is that Australia’s premier three-piece comedy rock group are back in town. Their incredible Four Chords Song, hilarious and eerie, is what made them famous – and we expect it to feature again, because repetition does nothing to diminish its genius. But they will also mix in pop pastiche and original composition, along with witty banter and a real talent for rock. We had issues with the sound quality in the Gilded Balloon the first time we saw them (a problem with the venue rather than the band), but that’s an easy fix. Get a ticket, get a seat front and centre, and get ready to turn the awesome up to 11. |
