One of the few genuine Fringe institutions, musical double-act Kit and the Widow are back again for an astonishing 27th year.  With Kit providing the vocals and the oddly-named Widow on the piano, there's one obvious way to summarize their act: step forward, the successors to Flanders and Swann.

Kit and the Widow

This year's title – Oiling Up – may have proved unexpectedly topical, but we confidently predict a performance in their inimitable old-school style.  Sometimes cutting, often outrageous, but always unflappably urbane, they'll be creasing up the audience with their patter-filled songs and unashamedly intellectual banter.

The show is much the same each time, but that doesn't bother what might just be the most loyal following at the Fringe.  Year after year, they make the trek down to Stockbridge in their masses, delighted to hear the old favourites trotted out between the latest numbers.  But there's room for more in the fan club; so if you've missed out on the previous 26 years, make sure you make a date with the duo in 2010.
