Detailed Edinburgh Festivals calendar

Without doubt, most visitors to Edinburgh are primarily here for the Fringe. This nominally runs for three weeks from 3 to 25 August - although the emergence of a "preview" week means it's been bursting at those particular seams for years. Following a schism some time back, the International Festival starts and ends a week later; the other festivals generally overlap with the Fringe period, with the notable exception of the Jazz and Blues, which is all over in the first week of August.

See below the table for a key to the abbreviations.

Latest Ticket Alert

The Fringe is finito.  It's been close to four crazy, crazy weeks - but the world's biggest arts festival has called it a day, and rolled out of Edinburgh for another year.

But the Fringe isn't the only show in town.  There's still plenty to catch up on before the fireworks display ends the Festival season on Sunday... and so, if you've got the energy, we've got the details.
