Magic’s moved on since we all watched Paul Daniels on TV, and this year’s Fringe programme offers more than its fair share of show-boating illusionists. But in the escalating race for more blinding flashes, more thumping music and more death-defying stunts, it’s easy to sense that something’s been lost... to feel nostalgic for the gentler pleasures of yesteryear. |
