Getting tickets for the other festivals

Edinburgh's smaller and newer festivals generally have less formal booking arrangements, often based on direct contact with the venue concerned.

Art Festival tickets
"A few, very popular, exhibitions require timed tickets and advanced booking; other galleries have free entry, while a third set collects fees on the door"
A mix of ticketing systems apply at the Edinburgh Art Festival. A few, very popular, exhibitions require timed tickets and advanced booking, as do talks and other events. Other galleries have free entry, while a third set charges admission fees but just collects them on the door. In all cases, arrangements are usually direct with the gallery concerned. For details check the EAF's own website (see "Elsewhere on the web", below), or phone the information line on 0131 662 6200.

Ticketing for the Festival of Politics is run through the International Festival's Hub Tickets system.  As with the International Festival itself, there's no booking fee: just a 60p postage charge if you'd like them sent out to you.  You can also get tickets from the Scottish Parliament itself - but you'll have to go through a security scan, so unless you're in the building it's a lot less hassle to go to the Hub.

Similarly, the Festival of Spirituality and Peace is selling its tickets through the Hub this year.  We understand there'll also be a box office at St John's church, at the West End of Princes Street; check back nearer the Festival for full details.

Mela has a mix of free and ticketed events. Most people buy tickets on the day, but it's also possible to pre-book through The Hub.
